Mary Patricia Brown (née Nalley), known her entire life as Boonie, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on June 28, 2023, at the age of 86. She was a parishioner at St. Athanasius parish.
She was born on January 29, 1937 in Loreto, Kentucky and grew up in Culvertown, Kentucky. She received the sacraments of initiation and was married to Jimmy, her husband of 64 years, in Immaculate Conception church in Culvertown on September 6, 1958.
She is survived by Jimmy, seven children: Duane, Paul, Fr. Joseph Mary, Patricia, Steve (Donatella), Michael, and David (Ashley), and twelve grandchildren: Katie, Marta, Sean, Francesco, Mara, Veronica, Carlo, Michael, Annamaria, Peter, Joseph, and Georgianna. She also learned the week before her passing that her first great-grandchild is expected to be born in January 2024. Her parents Richard and Esther, and her siblings Madeline, Jo Ann, and John precede her in death. Her siblings Sarah Elizabeth (Betty), Edward, Charles, and Donna, survive her.
Boonie was a woman of deep faith and was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend who gave of herself completely to her family and friends. She enjoyed the simple things of life, spending many an hour on her porches swinging, speaking on the phone with children and grandchildren, and enjoying a good meal.
Visitation will be on Friday, June 30, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. at William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 N Main Street, New Haven, Kentucky. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception church in Culvertown. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery in Bardstown.
